Ben Engel is an experienced mindfulness practitioner and facilitator with extensive first-hand experience of the benefits that mindfulness practice brings to daily life. Ben attended his first silent retreat over twenty years ago and completed his initial MBSR Teacher Training with Openground Australia in 2009. He has continued his ongoing development as a mindfulness facilitator through peer and clinical supervision, formal training and other professional development activities.

Ben brings a pragmatic and compassionate approach to mindfulness training. His focus is on each participant gaining an experiential understanding of how applied mindfulness practice can lead to a life fully lived, regardless of the individual circumstances they may face.

As the owner of Border Mindfulness, Ben provides training and support in the development of mindfulness through public courses, customised workplace programs, and in his work with individuals.

Ben has a background as a Human Resources Professional, and has worked in a variety of HR roles with several multinational organisations. Ben is also a registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist (registration number 24284).

Ben is an Associate Teacher with OpenGround Australia, Executive Officer and Study Module Assessor for the Mindfulness Training Institute, and a Registered Teacher with the Meditation Association of Australia (membership number 1070). He runs regular MBSR courses for patients and carers at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre, inmates at the Beechworth Correctional Centre and is affiliated with the Prison Mindfulness Institute.
